Cheese Cake vs Sweet Cake

Having had many requests over the past few months for a real cheese wedding cake I finally caved and attempted to créate something that could match the beauty of the real wedding cakes we are used to at our weddings.  I was not convinced but by decorating it with traditional flowers instead of the usual fruit and displaying it on an elegant console table I was quite pleased with the results.  The wedding guests were all fooled into thinking it was a real cake and were amazed and delighted when then realised it was made from cheese.  Personally I would have been rather disappointed as I have a very sweet tooth. I am not convinced that a cheese cake could ever upstage the beauty and decadence of a sweet hand piped cake complete with sugar flowers but for those of you that dont have quite such a sweet tooth as me this is a good alternative and can be served to your guests as a midnight snack with chutneys, crackers and breads.

Getting married in Spain and surviving the heat

So you have decided to book your wedding in Spain and we don’t blame you as who wants to risk the wonderfully wet and cold weather of the great British Summer.  Now you just need to make sure that your wedding guests don’t melt in shock of the heat of a Spanish Summer.  Here are some of our favorite ideas to keep your guests cool and refreshed throughout the day, ensuring they party long into the night!

Wedding Fans – an absolute essential and available in a wide range to suit all wedding styles.  They are also great as doubling up as favors for your guests and can be personalized with a simple gift tag or even printed with your order of service or your menus.

Paper Parasols – not only practical but also very pretty and can offer a welcome bit of shade for your guests during your wedding ceremony.

Lemonade Stand – what is more cooling and refreshing than ice cold homemade lemonade, loved by both adults and children alike.

Cooling Station – our favorite idea and a fun and thoughtful addition to any cocktail hour to greet your guests with after the ceremony.  You can include ice cold towels, refreshing facial sprays in cucumber, mint and lavender,  buckets of ice cold drinks or vintage glass dispensers filled with your favorite chilled cocktail. Fans, insect repellents and sun screen are also a nice practical touch along with some flipflops for any tired feet.

Refreshing Cocktails - With Signature Cocktails being all the rage this year we love these simple Prosecco and Ice Lolly Cocktails.

Ice Lollies - Lastly and another of our favorites are these super cute and super yummy Mojito Popsicles.

Wedding Decor & Styling for 2013

Well it´s the time of year when Rachel Rose Weddings start planning the designs for this year´s weddings and I am very excited about some of the recent additions I have purchased for our décor range so I thought I´d share some of my inspiration for the styling of this year´s weddings with you.

I am having a major love affair with Chandeliers and will be incorporating them wherever possible.

Beautifully decorated ceremony areas are top of my agenda

I just adore old oak wine barrels and will be using them at our more rustic weddings as cocktail tables, bars  and maybe even a cake table if I can persuade Fiona. I´m also toying with the idea of painting some white and adding a little bling for some of our more glam weddings.

Beautiful cakes and unusual cake tables.  I am busy restoring and painting some pretty pieces of furniture to be used as cake and dessert tables or even cocktail bars

We will be creating some very pretty and comfortable lounge areas that can be incorporated within your cocktail hour or evening party.

Happy New Year to all our wonderful couples from 2012 and to all our very excited couples for 2013!

Cortijo Pedro Jimenez - Kealie & Matt

Our first wedding at Cortijo Pedro Jimenez was a huge success that we are extremely proud of.  We were of course very lucky to have Kealie & Matt as our first couple as they had fab taste and style which made my job all the easier, not to mention that Kealie looked like a bride straight from Hello magazine.  They allowed me to organise and style every aspect of their reception and trusted me to put together their day from start to finish so I went about booking all my favorite suppliers and entertainers and they also flew in their own superstar DJ, the legendary Brandon Block who rocked the house until the sun came up!  So a big thank you to the team and all involved for helping me pull off this showstopping wedding x
